Eagle Rock Cafe and Beli Iskar village
After Borovets, our destination was the small village of Beli Iskar, 10 kilometers away. I had corresponded by email with the owner of a restaurant there, and that is where we planned to have lunch. As we drove through the mountains, we came across a small waterfall at the side of the road.
We reached the village, and found our way to the Eagle Rock Cafe. The restaurant is open on Sundays from noon, and we went in. We immediately met Naomi, one of the British owners of the cafe, which serves "a contemporary take" on Bulgarian and other European foods.
Lunch was excellent. Being the only diners, we were able to talk to Naomi and hear about her experiences setting up the restaurant, which is in a complex of apartments, many of which are owned by people from England. The cafe is now in its second season, and we were very impressed by the food, the interior design of the restaurant, and by the friendly host. We will definitely be back!
